The 5 building blocks
Everything in the app is one of these five things. Understand them and the rest of the app explains itself.
| Building block | In plain English | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Points | Your loyalty currency. You can rename them (Coins, Stars, Gems…). | "You earned 50 Points!" |
| Tier | A membership level a customer lands in based on their points or orders. Each tier sets its own earning and spending rates. | Standard (0–1000), Gold (1000–5000) |
| Campaign | A time-limited challenge with milestones. Customers make progress and claim rewards along the way. | "Scan 3 bottles in July → 300 points" |
| Gift card | A coupon customers buy with their points. | 10 USD coupon = 1000 points |
| Batch / Label | Your physical stock. A batch is a production run; labels are the individual scan codes inside it. | Batch JULY-2026, labels 1–500 |

BATCHES and LABELS sit underneath: they are what makes a
physical product scan possible in the first place. The one rule worth remembering
The tier is the engine. Campaigns are bonuses on top. If points aren't being awarded at all, the answer is almost always in the tier — not the campaign. Check that:
- the tier's point earning ratio is set,
- "give points on each order completed" is on,
- and for scans, "allow rewards on scan" is on with a scan reward value.
A worked example
Say you sell coffee.
- You create two tiers: Standard (0–999 points) and Gold (1000+). Standard earns 1 point per $1; Gold earns 3 points per $1. Both let customers cash in 100 points for $1.
- You create a gift card: $10 coupon. At 100 points per dollar, customers see it priced at 1000 points.
- You put a scan code on every bag. In each tier you turn on allow rewards on scan and set it to 20 points.
- You run a campaign of type Authenticator Scan for July, with milestones at 1, 3 and 5 scans paying 50 / 150 / 400 bonus points.
A customer buys three $20 bags: they earn 60 points from spend, 60 from three scans, and 200 in campaign milestones. At 320 points they're still Standard — but they can see on their rewards page exactly how far they are from Gold.
