What a tier is
A tier is a membership level. Every customer sits in exactly one tier at a time, decided automatically by whichever number you pick as the threshold type — their points, or how many orders they've completed.
The tier controls:
- how fast the customer earns points (e.g. 5 points per $1),
- how much a point is worth when spent (e.g. 100 points = $1),
- what they get for scanning a product,
- whether they can refer friends, and what both sides get,
- any extra perks you attach as tier rewards.
Most stores start with two to four tiers whose ranges touch but never overlap — for example Standard 0–999, Silver 1000–4999, Gold 5000–99999.
Every tier option explained
The form has two steps, shown in the left sidebar: Information and Rewards.
Step 1 — Information
| # | Field | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tier name | What customers see, e.g. "Gold". Maximum 100 characters. Required. |
| 2 | Description | The perks blurb on the customer's Tiers card. You can paste a bulleted HTML list (<li> items) and each line shows with a tick mark next to it. |
| 3 | Threshold type | What decides who belongs in this tier. See the table below. Required. |
| 4 | Point range (start / end) | The band for this tier. A customer whose number falls inside it lands here. The end must be greater than the start, and ranges shouldn't overlap between tiers. |
| 5 | Invitation only | On = customers can't reach this tier by earning; they must be invited (for example by a Tier Invitation reward on another tier). Turning this on stops referrals working for this tier. |
| 6 | Allow rewards on scan | On = scanning a product code pays out for customers in this tier. Turning it on makes the scan reward fields below required. |
| 7 | Scan reward type + value | How much a scan is worth. See the table below. |
| 8 | Point spending ratio (PSR) | What a point is worth when spent. Two boxes: Dollar Redeem ÷ Points Spent. 1 and 100 means 100 points = $1. |
The three threshold types
| Choice | What it counts | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Current Point Balance | The points the customer holds right now. | Spending points can drop a customer down a tier. |
| Overall Points Earned | Lifetime points earned, regardless of what they've spent. | Never goes down — customers keep the status they've earned. |
| Orders Completed | Number of orders actually delivered to the customer. | Not orders placed or paid — delivered. |
The three scan reward types
| Choice | What it gives | Extra field |
|---|---|---|
| Points | A flat number of points per scan. | — |
| % Off Points | A percentage discount funded by points. | Also asks for a fallback redeem point value, used when a percentage can't be worked out. |
| % Off Retail Price | A percentage off the item's retail price. | — |
Step 2 — Rewards
| # | Field | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Give points on each order completed | Turn on to pay points for orders. "Completed" means delivered, not just paid. |
| 10 | Points based on pre-tax amount | On = points are worked out on the total before tax. Off = the full amount including tax. |
| 11 | Point earning ratio (PER) | Two boxes: Points Earned ÷ Dollar Spent. 5 and 1 means 5 points per $1. |
| 12 | Points for product reviews | Points given when a customer reviews a product. This field is required — enter 0 if you don't want it. |
| 13 | Referral program | Turn on to let customers in this tier invite friends. Sub-fields below. |
| 14 | Image for wallet | The picture at the top of the customer's rewards page — the membership card art for this tier. Drop in a JPG, PNG or GIF and it uploads automatically. |
| — | + Rewards | Extra perks attached to the tier. See Tier rewards. |
Referral sub-fields
Only shown when option 13 is on.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Referrer Points | Points for the person who shared the link. |
| Referred Points | Points for the friend who signed up with it. |
| Referral Link | The URL you want shared — usually your store or a landing page. |
| Referral Limit | Most successful referrals one customer can be paid for. |
| Over Rule Invite | Lets a referral pull someone into an invitation-only tier, overriding the restriction. |
| Only Converted User | On = the referrer is only paid once the friend actually buys, not just signs up. |
| Order Count | (Only with Only Converted User on) How many orders the friend must place. Defaults to 1. |
| Minimum Spend Points | (Only with Only Converted User on) Minimum spend before the referral counts. |
Tier rewards
On the Rewards step, click + Rewards, choose a type, fill the one field it asks for, then click Add. Repeat for as many perks as you want. Each added perk appears as a grey card with a bin icon to remove it.

|---|---|---|
| No Reward | A placeholder with no payout. | Nothing |

| Points | A flat points bonus. | Number of points |
| Point X3 | A points multiplier perk. | The multiplier value |
| Point X | A points multiplier perk (custom). | The multiplier value |

The Next button doesn't check your work
All validation happens when you press Submit. If something's missing you'll see "Please fix the errors in the form" and the app jumps you back to whichever step has the problem.
To edit a tier: Tiers list → pencil icon. To delete one: the red bin icon, then confirm.

Common questions
Do I need a tier at all? Yes. The tier is what holds your earning and spending rates, so nothing is awarded without one.
What happens if my ranges overlap? A customer could qualify for two tiers at once and the result becomes unpredictable. Make each range start where the previous one ended.
How do customers get into an invitation-only tier? Give another tier a Tier Invitation reward pointing at it, or turn on Over Rule Invite in a referral rule.
Should I use Current Point Balance or Overall Points Earned? Use Overall Points Earned if you don't want customers demoted for spending their points — which is what most stores want. Use Current Point Balance if the tier should reflect what they're holding right now.
