Transferring Ownership
Collectibles can change hands. The transfer is deliberately a two-sided, verified process rather than a single click, because it moves something of value out of one account and into another.
What you can do with it
Request a transfer
The current holder starts it, identifying the recipient by email address.
Confirm it is really you
A one-time code is sent by email and must be entered to proceed. This is the step that prevents someone with momentary access to a signed-in browser from giving away a collectible.
Accept or reject as the recipient
The receiving side is asked to approve. A transfer is not forced on anyone — the recipient can reject it, and the collectible stays where it was.
See the state of a transfer
Both sides can see the details of a transfer in progress, so neither is left guessing whether it went through.
What can go wrong
A transfer can fail or be rejected, and the storefront says which. The common causes:
- The recipient's email was mistyped, so the request never reached a real person
- The one-time code was not entered, leaving the request unconfirmed
- The recipient declined
In each case the collectible remains with the original holder. A failed transfer does not destroy anything.
Check the email address before sending
The recipient is identified by email. A typo sends the request to the wrong person or to nobody, and the fix is starting again rather than editing a request in flight.
